I adapted my old tried and true short crust pastry recipe to suit the thermomix. So if you don’t have a thermomix, just manually crumb the dry ingredients and butter together and then slowly mix in the wet and knead lightly.
Shortcrust Pastry
2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
125g butter
just over 1/4 cup water
Mix dry ingredients with butter for 10 seconds on speed 6. Add water slowly with measuring cup removed whilst kneading. After about 1 minute a ball of dough will form. Remove and roll out to shape.
Blind bake at 190 degrees until golden.
have you tried puff? i tried the recipe in the thermomix book but i couldn’t even do that successfully (it was more like shortcrust) 🙁 i am a pastry failure!
no I haven’t tried puff. I’ll let you know if I do. I have found in a few instances with that sort of basic recipe that my old tried and true recipes work better when converted that the recipes in the TM book.
Puff is harder to get right than shortcrust too.
