It’s official. Everyone here at chez KP, including me, is sick to death of silverbeet.

The last silvebeet pie
It’s going to seed fairly rapidly now. I’ll be cutting the rest down this weekend, blanching and freezing for when we can face it again. I don’t like the way the stalks freeze so they will be chopped up and used as green manure. We must have eaten at least 5 kilograms of the stuff over the last couple of months. That’s a crazy amount of silverbeet leaves. Every single plant was self seeded. Not something that is likely to occur again next year as I am completely rebuilding those two beds into raised beds. I’ll have to proactively plant next year and I certainly won’t plant wuite as much as we ended up with this year.
