Utter simplicity…steamed spring vegetables and haloumi
Just the veg and haloumi alone would be enough for me. The carboholics in the family demanded more so I added some dried Chinese noodles. A squeeze of lemon juice is all this dinner needs.

I’m fairly sure mine is different every time I make it. It’s the most wonderful meal in a bowl. The dressing for tonight’s version was inspired by Jane Lawson’s Tossed’. The love affair continues. As the Bread Winner waltzed out the door tonight he threw a final comment at me, “W’s coming over tonight”. The […]
We like to mix things up a little round here. So I took a salad, added some grated cheese, sour cream and freshly made corn tortillas. Yum. Although perhaps serving beans for both lunch and dinner was overkill. Maybe we should stay out of the public arena for awhile. Southwestern Black Bean Salad from Tossed, […]
Parental brag first. So and Heir rode over 10km today in two separate stetches. LIttle champ. I bet he sleeps well tonight. The way home was harder than the way there but he made it! Now that’s out of the way, let’s move on to food shall we? You may not be surprised to hear […]
I deserted this little bloglet over the weekend in favour of particpating in real life. It happens sometimes. On Saturday night, I gussied up, deserted Ankle Biter and the Bread Winner and headed out to a friend’s 40th. Fun, fun, fun! Bubbles, red wine, lots of lovely party food and great conversation. Not to mention […]

It may not be as warm as I would like just yet but salads can still be just right. They just need a bit of warmth to them. I served this with freshly baked pain de campagne. A perfect combination. Eggplant and Lentil Salad adapted from Tossed by Jane Lawson 3 tablespoons olive oil 1 […]
Salad Fever continues at Chez KP with ongoing inspiration from ‘Tossed‘. Warm potato and sausage salad 8 small potatoes, unpeeled olive oil sea salt 6 sausages (I used Cornish, spicy would work well too) rocket (arugula) 300g semi dried cherry tomatoes Dressing 1 head garlic, cloves separated but unpeeled 1 tablespoon dijon mustard 2 tablespoons […]
Today was another wonderful, warm Melbourne spring day. Complete with somewhat annoying trademark Melbourne gale force winds. The Ankle Biters and I were out the door by 7.45am and on our way to the farmers market at Collingwood Children’s Farm. As were half the inhabitants on Melbourne (or so it seemed). photo by pinkcocoa, some […]
Today was officially the first short sleeve and sandal day of spring in Melbourne. Utter bliss. Made even more enjoyable by my freshly spring cleaned windows. I’m in my happy place. Just as at the start of the colder weather, soup is a fabulous meal that it seems impossible to tire of, the advent of […]
